Second mittens in the knit- along

These are the second pairs of mittens in the knit along at Hobbyboden . It is fun to look at all the other  mittens  and see how they turned out.
I made these in superwash yarn, double thread.one purple and one blue.....They are a bit more purple then they look on my pc...

More mittens

Yes, more mittens. I am really enjoying knitting these mittens, and I have finally seen the fun in felting. This time I made a pair in adult size.

What I want to do next is to find a good pattern for a hat too.  These mittens are great as Christmas presents, and even better if I made a set with a hat and mittens.  I don`t want to start without a pattern, not when it shall be felted. Or maybe I should try knit and felt a purse.....or bag.......or.........erm......well......I can plan can`t I?

Knit-along

I joined in my very first knit- along yesterday, a mittens knit along at Hobbyboden. We are going to knit 5 pairs, and we get a new pattern each Monday.

I am not sure I will knit them all, depends how they look. This first pair was to be felted, which is the first time I tried that since I was a kid and we did this at school.

This pair I made for my daughter. She is all about purple these days, so the colour choice wasnt too difficult. The only problem was that the shop at the island hardly had any colours left, so I ended up with these red ones. She likes the colours though, especially the golden thread in the Funny yarn. They are knit in Funny and PT2. Right now they are in the washing machine getting felted, and I have no idea how they will look when they are done. Hopefully they are perfect! I cant wait :D

After two times in the washing machine they fit mom perfectly. Not sure if I will give it another go, I will wait till the princess comes home from school and hear what she thinks about them.

So now I wonder what the next mittens in the knit along will look like. I also joined in at a sew- along , but I am not a very close friend with my sewing machine these days. For some reason it doesnt seem to be very cooperative......so I don`t know if I will follow through with that....

Little acts of kindness

I read some place that the best things in life are little acts of kindness.

I have the best neighbours ever, they dont interfere, but they are there if I need them. And  I try to be the same for them. Today  the woman came with  these roses from her garden, saying she wanted me to have them, for no special reason.

Stitch markers

Today has been a fairly warm day, which is great after the storm we had. I haven`t started on anything new since the Hermione hat, but while I was sitting outdoors on the porch watching the kids, I made  a few stitch markers. I always used just a piece of yarn to mark the stitches, but it`s more fun to use these markers. I would have made more, but I dont have any more hooks left.

Hermiones`s cable-and-bobble hat

I finished knitting the hat this morning, still have some lose ends to fasten though. It was fun knitting it , the pattern was almost like putting together a puzzle, and it turned out great.

Not sure if I will knit another one, or let it be at this one. It is very warm, the woolen yarn is fairly thick, and it fits an adult. Could be fun trying to knit it in a bit thinner yarn. Anyway, here it is.

English knitting pattern

I couldnt wait till I finished the other things I am making , I just had to  give the english pattern a try. Turns out it is soo easy. No wait: turns out I am soo clever. Way to go me, hehe.

I am all about knitting hats these days, because as I am on the way some place  they are easiest to bring along.
The Hermoine hat needs a bit more focus then the other ones of course, and it turns out I have not bought enough yarn for it, I thought 2 ( ineedtolookuptheword) would be enough- and its not. oh well..

Hermoine`s hat

I have never tried to knit by english patterns before, but one time has to be the first right?  I saw this really nice hat  that Manne has knit, and I totally need to make it.

I bought the pattern from a site that has patterns for several items from the Harry Potter movies. If I ever manage to finish this hat I might make Hermoine`s mittens as well in the similar design. I cant wait to start, although I have some other things I should finish first. Besides I am not sure what kind of yarn to use yet.

Crochet in frames

I dont often buy crocheted items, I do enjoy making them myself. And the items are mostly really too expensive to buy, especially when I can make them myself.
I just had to buy these two frames though , they cost me next to nothing, and they are perfect for my blue kitchen wall.

One is a little crochted jacket, and the other a small crocheted dress. They are on tiny hangers, I think they are just soo cute.

Christmas doilies

Yesterday I was finishing some  crocheted doilies that I started way back, a white one and some white/ red ones. The star ones are Christmas doilies, I have made quite a bit of these earlier, in different sizes.

I blocked these out with needles,  and had great help from my little son.

.
I dont have any pattern for them anymore. I think I made the first of this kind when I was a teenager ( yes like a hundred years or so ago....ugh ) from a magazine. And then later on I just looked at one I had made to make the next one. I am going to make a few new ones in the bigger sizes as well . They are the perfect handcraft to be doing while watching tv, because they are so easy to make. And they go great with the Christmas decorations.
